Reduce a photo to any KB size
Phone photos are typically several megabytes, but forms want a small file measured in KB. This tool reduces your photo to the exact KB size you choose — 20KB, 50KB, 100KB, 200KB or a custom value — while keeping it as clear as possible.
Resize the dimensions too
Many forms also specify pixel dimensions. Open the custom settings, enter the width and height your form needs (keep aspect ratio on to avoid stretching), and the tool resizes the photo before compressing it to your KB target — both rules satisfied in one download.
Private and free
Your photo is processed locally with the Canvas API and never uploaded, so it is safe for ID and application photos. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit. Need exact form sizes? See the online form photo resizer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize a photo in KB?
Upload your photo, choose a target file size in KB, and the tool lowers JPG quality — and the dimensions if needed — until the photo fits. Then download it. No software needed.
Can I reduce a photo to a specific KB and pixel size at once?
Yes. Open the custom settings to set the exact width and height, then pick a KB target. The tool resizes to your pixels first, then compresses to the KB limit.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. The tool is mobile-friendly, so you can resize a photo straight from your phone's camera roll.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Every step — resizing, cropping and compression — happens locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, and nothing is stored or transmitted.
What should I do if my image cannot be compressed enough?
Open the "Need exact width, height or quality?" section and reduce the width and height — a smaller image reaches a tiny KB target far more easily. Make sure the output format is JPG, and start from the original photo rather than a screenshot. If a target is physically impossible, the tool shows the smallest clear result it can make instead of a broken file.
Which output format should I choose?
Choose JPG for photographs and most form uploads because it gives the smallest file size. Use PNG only when you need a transparent background or razor-sharp line art. WebP gives excellent compression but some older government portals do not accept it — check the form requirements first.
